Rowley Homestead
The Rowley Homestead, Tabernash, Colorado
The Rowley Homestead is one of the most intact surviving examples of early twentieth-century homesteading in Grand County, Colorado. Established beginning in 1919 by Frederick G. Rowley under the Stock-Raising Homestead Act of 1916, the property illustrates both the aspirations and hardships of high-elevation agricultural settlement in the Fraser Valley. Today the site retains a remarkable collection of historic buildings, structures, landscape features, and artifacts that collectively convey the development of a small mountain livestock and subsistence operation between 1919 and the early 1950s. The homestead remains in its original setting overlooking Pole Creek and continues to possess a high degree of integrity in location, design, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association.
